The DVP that I used in the CQ WW SSB contest has an intermittent
problem that appeared for the first time this contest. Sometimes,
apparently randomly, upon hitting an F key, "white noise" mixed
with the DVP's stored audio would be fed to the TX mike input.
This resulted in essentially a key-down effect. Hitting ESC would
stop the message. Here are some more bits of info:
1. The same problem appeared on F1 and F7, so it is apparently
not "F key related."
2. Re-recording the messages did not help.
3. Rebooting did not help.
4. Not RF sensistive (did it with low power, high power, and no
power).
5. Most times, after hitting ESC, the next F1 would be OK. Toward
the end of the contest, at times I could not get the dang thing to fire
properly at all! (Calling CQ with your vocal cords is such a drag.)
6. I took the DVP out of the computer, cleaned the edge connector,
whacked the relays a bit with a screwdriver, and put it back in.
Seemed to work a little better for a while, but still had the random
trouble with the white noise.
Has anyone ever had this problem with a DVP?
