There are a few problems with the ARRL SS Cabrillo output file "call.txt"
in version 9.51.001. The header information for CATEGORY is spread across
several lines with mostly incorrect data (according to the format on the
Cabrillo web page; e.g. SINGLE-OP QRP translates into SCHOOL-CLUB QRP).
The CATEGORY data should all be in one line in a standard order. The
SECTION line should actually be titled ARRL-SECTION. These problems may be
corrected trivially with a text editor by the alert contestant.
A potentially more serious difficulty is that the columns in the QSO data
line do not conform exactly to the SS template that is on the Cabrillo web
site. How much of a problem this will create depends on the sophistication
(or lack there of) of the log checking software that ARRL uses. Given
recent history I'd rather err on the side of being too cautious and adhere
strictly to the published standard.
Reformatting a more than 600 line log isn't going to be fun for most
people. Can Ken please fix the format of the SS Cabrillo file before the
CW contest?
