I just saw this and all the answers. Let me weigh in because I've used a
751A since the day CT was invented. You have already figured out turning the
internal keyer off but you still will need some way to send things manually
and slower. I've tried every combination known to man and this is what works
for me. I use serial cable from the computer in parallel with, the only mfj
product that ever worked, the old 484 grandmaster keyer. I use a Vibroplex
paddle on the input of the grandmaster. I have tried, very unsuccessfully,
to do fill-ins from the keyboard and I'm not coordinated enough because
usually when you fill-in you need to reduce speed. To many function keys and
alt keys for my feeble brain to handle, and then change it all back to
normal operating speed. I set the grandmaster to around 20wpm.
Hope this helps.

P.S. It takes a real man to use a 751A in a CW contest....

Turning off the keyer did the trick. It has to be off to use CT and on to
use the separate paddle input. A bit of a pain but manageable.

Typical hasty cockpit error.
