[ct-user] getting COMTRS1 working w/ICOM 756proII

Well- my ICOM 756 pro II is hooked up to the CT-17 which is hooked up to my com port 1 on the computer (operating CT windows).

Anyone with the ICOM 756 - is there a switch to activate computer communication in the radio itself? I could not find it in the manual.

I did find the file COMTRS1.bin in a find file search (in Windows), and even moved it to my desktop for convenience. When I click on it Wordpad comes up with a lot of symbols. I know this is really basic, but if anyone can help me I would really appreciate it.
