Greetings!
The Western Carolina Amateur Radio Society (the club of which I am *still*
president, darn it!) has received a donation of some microwave gear. I am
likely the club's only microwave enthusiast, so much of it will probably be
sold for the benefit of the club. I thought I'd mention it to you guys
first, in case any of you are interested. Sorry if the details are sketchy
- I unloaded the stuff last night in the dark and cold! I will get further
details if any of you are interested.
Here is some of what we received:
2 HP 495A Traveling Wave Tube Amplifiers - approx 8 - 16 Gz at one
watt. The donor took good care of these... powered them up and ran them
loaded for a while every few months. I think the drive for rated output is
around 10 dBm.
1 HP 628 SHF Signal Generator.... drat.. I don't remember the tuning range,
but some research might reveal it. I'll get more info next time I visit
our storage facility, which may be a while.
1 Wavetek 1801A Sweep/Marker Generator
1 (unlabeled, looks like HP) Bias supply for.... klystron? magnetron? one
of those other 'trons that does microwave stuff?
2 'brick' microwave sources... one was California Microwave, not sure about
the other...
1 HP Microwave Power Meter (model number N/A right now) *with* bolometer
head and cable!
1 WR90 waveguide switch.... three-port or four... don't recall.
14 waveguide sections.... some with 90 degree bend on one end.. 'almost'
WR90... bronze, I think... 'almost' as a wartime demand made it easier to
make from off-the shelf rectangular tubing that is close to WR90
dimensions. Donor says it's fine for 10 GHz.
4 2-foot Flexible WR90 waveguide sections.
1 Maury 2505 Slotted Line.
Many miscellaneous odds and ends. The load filled half the bed of my truck!
Let me know if any of this interests you. After a bit, I'll likely put
most of it on eBay.
73,
Paul W4SKI
