I was informed this week that I have been assigned to Kentucky as a customer
service rep (yeah, I thought that was funny to) if the CWA goes out on
strike next month. The contract expires at midnight on August 7th. If
BellSouth and the union settle or if there is a strike but it is short there
should be no problem with my participation in the September contest. If the
strike is long (into September) then my participation in the September
contest will be in jepordy. No need to get all wound up about this yet but
I thought I should give you guys a heads up. I will keep everyone informed.

Now for an update. It looks like we are going to be operating limited multi
(6 through 432) in September. Bob, K4SZ has volunterred to be 2 meter band
captain. Neal, K4EA will continue as 6 meter band captain and I will
continue as 432 band captain. Brian, NX9O may or may not be available as
222 band captain. Bob and I have discussed this and we are fairly
comfortable that we can integrate the 222 station into the 432 station if
Brian can not make it. We will be using Brian's trailer to operate out of.
Four stations will be a little cosey but we can manage. If Brian is not
available to pull his trailer to the mountain and back Bob has found someone
who has a truck that is up to the job and has volunteered to pull it for us.
If someone out there is willing to volunteer to take over some of the band
captain duties then these plans may change.

That is all for now.
