Bob K4SZ, Brian NX9O and I had a very productive work day at Bob's place
today. The following is an overview.
Finished working on the 432 station. Bob is going to do some more on the
air testing this week and we will pack it up Saturday.
The version of WriteLog that is installed on the laptops Bob and I will be
using is 10.42. We are happy with that version and don't plan to upgrade
unless there is some need to do so. A quick check of www.writelog.com shows
that the latest version is 10.47. Let us know if we need to upgrade.
We checked both NX9O and my generators. It appears that my generator is the
RF noise culprit. NX9O's generator was clean. I am going to try replacing
the spark plug on mine Saturday but at this point I would have to say that
my generator probably will not be on the mountain. This leaves us without
any backup generators. I would like to suggest that you other guys who have
generators consider bringing them with you for backup. Run them first and
listen to them with a receiver to make sure they aren't RF noisy also. We
used Bob's 817 tuned to 144.2 MHz AM with the NB turned off. We have had
generator problems in the past and I don't want to be on the mountain with
no backups.
A quick rundown of trailers and who is pulling what follows:
Robin - Martha White
Brian - Big White
Bob - Big Red
Jim - Black Beauty
Dick - 2 meter tower trailer (we need a name for this one)
Neal - 222 MHz tower trailer (we need a name for this one also)
Neal, you need to make arrangements with Bob to get the 222 MHz tower
trailer.
As all of you know, Paul W4SKI will not be cooking for us this time around.
Bob K4SZ is going to bring a grill and stove for cooking. Everyone needs to
bring their own food. I plan to bring stuff to make sandwiches for lunch
and some hamburgers and a steak for dinner.
That is it for now.
