Here is a couple of possible rover // base plans in the area. Hope this
helps. NY4N Jeff
This kind-of depends on WX, but "WA4JA/Rover" will have a mid-afternoon
start in EM66 and EM65 on the Natchez Trace Pkwy near Franklin. If the WX
cooperates, I plan to activate EM74 on Lookout Mountain at the gliderport,
EM73 on the eastern slope of Cheaha Mountain, EM72 north of Lafayette (AL),
and rove to the south as time permits. May pick up EM63 and EM64, too. Plan
"A" is to wind up in EM71 since it is rare.
3 el on 6m
11 el on 2 m
17 (I think) el on 432 (new antenna for me, bout from Tom NN5A)
and whips when underway
Also 146.490 FM when moving.
If it rains, look for a clear spot and that's probably where I'll be. Spent
every stop last June (and this January) in the rain, and found it rough
going. Also, if I hear 6 m open, I'll stop and see what I can bark up.
Wear out your HT this weekend since it is one of the few opportunities for
it to become a contest machine.

The plan is to play around on 6 meters. I have a Hustler 6 meter whip that I
picked up last weekend at the Atlanta hamfest. I can use this when we are in
motion . I am also packing the DK9SQ mast with my full size 6 meter loop on it
and I can crank it up to 30 ft, when we stop somewhere. So I will have a
"real"
antenna too. The rig will be the IC706MKIIG, running 100 watts.
We plan to depart sometime Saturday morning and will probably activate the
following grid squares - EM72, EM71, EM70, EM60 and EL79. N4PN's contest station
on St George Island is in EL79, but I am not sure if he does 6 meters.
Hopefully I can experience an 6 meter E's opening at its best. I have always
dreamed of being on the other end of one of those openings up north, which I
have in short spurts from the home QTH. I probably would be even better the
further south I go... HI...

Was ask last nite on the net where to look for the KD4HIK VHF contest effort.
Kenny says we will be around:
50.135
144.200
146.55 or 146.49 fm on the bottom of the hour.
We will only be on till noon sunday so catch us early.
