 >> Paul, what kind of access might we be able to get to that relay
point before the contest weekend?

Well.... the owner of the site will be present a wekk or two before the
contest I think, but we can drive up there at other times. It's a 20-30
minute drive from my house (I live in Waynesville now), most of which is
driving up the mountain.

I think Robin's friend Terry has been reported to have equipment that
might be helpful, as might my 32 inch offset-fed dish that I set up for
AO-40. I was supposed to query Terry about this, but that task got "lost
in the pile". My DSL connection has finally achieved reliable status (by
discarding the subscriber equipment supplied by BellSouth), and I have a
LinkSys Access Point there as well. Additionally, I have local DNS and
DHCP servers running on one of my Linux boxes.

Concerns:

    * I have yet to see the path prediction for Eagle's Nest to Mile
High. My non-expert assessment of maps on TopoZone seems to
      indicate that it is possible.
    * During a visit to the relay site in March, I was not able to
verify a visual path from there to my house, and noted trees that
will provide additional attenuation when they have leaves (which
will be soon, if not already). I am not equipped to quantify the
attenuation involved ot what will be required to overcome it.

73,

Paul
