[Fourlanders] - Who, Why and Are you contesting?

Hi,

I joined the list to keep up with Fourlander activities. I
am planning on going out and Roving in June and hope to
activate several grids. I don't have any concrete plans on
when, where, or the bands I will have, but I definately try
to work W4NH whenever I can. I always like to see a Southern
group give the NE corridor boys a run for their money.

Keep in mind Mike N4OFA has been promoting Rover activity
for this June's contest and is trying to get 20 Rovers out
and about. That means recruiting and helping to equip many
first time Rovers. They will need encouragement as well as
technical assistance.

That last sentence was a good one and bears repeating.---

'They will need encouragement as well as technical
assistance.'

Remember, first timer Rovers might not have ever tried VHF
without a repeater before and it is up to us to help them to
learn on the air operating techniques as well as how to set
up and operate the gear.

If you know of anyone that might be interested in Roving
please help them out. Also let them know that there are
experienced Rovers that can help them with planning and
preparing for a successful Roving adventure.

There are several experienced Rovers I saw on the Fourlander
reflector list and I am sure any of them would be willing to
help with some pointers etc.

to volunteer the others as well but don't want to overstep
and do that Army style 'Hey You' volunteering. :-)

PS I understand that recent meeting may not have gone as
planned but I have no doubt as to wether the Fourlanders
will be on the Mountain. It is always so great to be
pointing down south and tuning during the contest and then
hear Jim's voice come up out of the noise and Robin in there
on another band. See you guys next in Charlotte and then on
the air in June!
