[Fourlanders] September contest / gas shortage

Neal;
  Jim W4KXY had asked me if I could come over and
operate with you guys. I had planned on coming but due
to work constraints I will be forced to operate from
the home QTH in EM95 this time. I live in Marion, NC
about 40 miles east of Asheville. Yesterday 08/31/05
several independent and chain gas stations in the
Asheville NC area reported selling out of gas. Some
did have very limited supplies of 93 octane left but
most were out of all grades of fuel. I am not sure
about the western reaches of the state where you guys
would be operating but if Asheville is out of gas I am
sure the same is true of that area. 

  Our delivery driver was in the Greensboro/TRIAD area
yesterday and reported several stations already closed
at 3 PM local time. FWIW low test fuel in my area
today is $3.49/gallon for 87 octane and they only had
2300 gallons left with no ETA for a future delivery.
NC is feeling the pinch like you guys in GA. 

  Just my .50 worth. Also it will be very interesting
to see what affect this has on the Shelby hamfest. Are
those that have planned to attend still going too?
