Congratulations Brian! Good work! Now we have a generator with no brain.
What should we call that?

This email subject is brought to you in honor of Frankenmower.
Frankenmower, your churning, chopping, plate steel headed, grass cutting
friend.

The real news is my 15KW diesel generator. I successfully fired it up this
morning. Ran it for 5 or so minutes. It made AC and ran smoothly.
The failed brain box was not installed, but rather the fuel solenoid was
hard wired to a power switch and a jumper wire was used to momentarily
trigger the starter. In the cool Monday morning air of 66 degrees, it did
not start on the first three attempts. I held the jumper onto the pre-heater
contacts for about 10-15 seconds, momentarily jumpered the starter and it
kicked right over.

Now I just need to top off or change fluids as appropriate. We can plan on
my big generator being there. The only reason I had not gotten to this point
earlier is that I would really rather have the "brain"
box in place and working as it has all of the engine instrumentation in it.
It will also kill the fuel solenoid if a parameter gets out of bounds.

I will keep working on the "brain" box issue. I have identified an alternate
if this one proves unrepairable and too expensive via Generac.

Thanks for all the supportive words, consultation and research from the
group.

Brian
