Robin K4IDC sent me a web link to a video of a French Ham making a 
triode tube.  It is excellent and you should look at it if you ever 
wondered how they were made.  I'm sure large scale production would be 
somewhat different, but this guy sure has a well equipped shop.  I'm 
sure that if we all pooled our resources we wouldn't have all that he 
uses to make these tubes.  Very interesting.  Check it out.  Here is
