this has some public exposure it will be interesting to see how folks react
to it.

Chuck/AF8Z and Rusty/AE5AE will be available for contacts Saturday
afternoon on 2.4 and 5.6 GHZ.  Most of you have equipment for at least
one of these bands in your computers... your WiFi Cards.  We have been
able to get data rates in excess of 14MBps at distances of over 1 mile.

Here's what to do:
 

The NetMeeting program is usually found on most Microsoft Windows XP
computer systems, generally in the directory C:\Program Files\NetMeeting .
The actual program file is named CONF.EXE.

Start NetMeeting by double clicking it.  Under Options menu fill in
some identifying information about yourself.  Nothing too personal but
a callsign in at least one of the name fields (first or last) would
be great.

After NetMeeting has been setup, you'll need to find our Access Point.

On my Dell I right click on the signal bar icon down in the System Tray,
then connect to the available SSID's.  Our SSID's will be something like

      CQ VHFSS 2GHZ AE5AE 10.4.59.73            for 802.11bg
and
      CQ VHFSS 5GHZ AE5AE 10.4.59.73            for 802.11a

Once the connection to our access point has been made switch back to
NetMeeting and make a "call" to 10.4.59.73 -- this is the IP address of
*our* laptop.  Once the call connects, open up a chat window by pressing
the Chat button (looks like a cartoon dialog "bubble") and start typing.

We will give you our grid square and hopefully we will get yours.

Also, we may have voice and video capability so be prepared to see
Rusty's smiling (albiet UUGLY) face.  :-)

If you have both 802.11BG and 802.11A capability then switch bands so
we can work you again.

We will be on Channel 1 for 802.11b/g (2412 MHz) and Channel 157 for
802.11a (5785 MHz).  We are trying to avoid interfering with the weak
signal portion of the band.

Planning liaison on 6M, 2 M, 70cm, and 23 cm.

We are accepting schedules at af8z at earthlink.net.  We don't have a lot
of time since Sunday Chuck wants to contest from home.
