FYI. I will probably be twisting someone's arm to help me with this when
the date gets closer. The last time I did a talk like this by myself I got
ambushed by a repeater nut case. I want to have some backup this time.

October 7 at 7:30. We have a business meeting to update the club on various
plans then followed by the technical program at about 8:15PM. You'll have a
minimum of 45 minutes.
BTW: if I was looking to get on 6m today what kind of rig should I get?
Doesn't seem to be a lot out there.
See you in October!

Jim, I have you down for October. The room we use at Southern Polytechnic
has a PC projector if you'll be doing a PowerPoint presentation.
See you then!

I will do a general overview of non-FM operations above 50 MHz with a focus
on 6 meters. Either month is OK with me.

Jim,
You sound like the pro I'm looking for. Let me add a little more
perspective.
We surveyed the club (about 50 come to the meetings each month) on their
interests and "VHF/UHF" was one of the highest checked areas. Now, since
most are already on 2m repeaters, my sense is that there is interest in
other parts of the VHF/UHF domain. 6m is of particular interest because so
many new rigs have it and more and more DXSpots show 6m to be opening.
45-60 minutes is usually available for the technical part of our
presentation, Jim. In that time, it might be useful to have an overview of
the types of activities on all of the VHF/UHF bands and then focus on 6m.
I'm having another person come and speak on AMSAT which uses VHF as well.
Any pictures you could use and/or examples of equipment would be helpful.
There might be a few budding VHF/UHF enthusiasts that we don't know about.
I have October and November open. Do you have a preference?

Clark KE4RQ

I would be glad to help you out. I am active on the magic band and more
folks are getting on every day. As we pass through the bottom of the
sunspot cycle now is a good time to start thinking about getting active. In
addition to talking about the magic band I can also give an overview of
activities on higher frequencies such as 144, 222 and 432 MHz as well as
the microwave bands. I also have presentations on using digital modes to
work EME and meteor scatter as well as test equipment for amateur radio.
Let me know what you are interested in and when you want me to present. I
have copied some of my partners in crime to see if they are interested in
helping out.

Hi, Jim.
Susan AF4FO suggested I contact you about providing a speaker for KARC about
6m (see below). I'm looking for someone in September or October. Can you
suggest someone to give a chat for us? It would also be an excellent
introduction for most of us to SE VHG Club.
Tnx & 73,

Hi, Clark.
Absolutely, we have a bunch of avid "magic banders" around. The SE VHF Club
is full of 'em, and the best place to start would be with Jim Worsham,
W4KXY. You can reach him at w4kxy at arrl.net. If he's unable to do the program
for you, I'm sure he could recommend someone else.
Good luck with it. And take care.

Hi, Susan.
I am the program chairman for KARC (www.w4bti.org <http://www.w4bti.org/> )
and am looking for someone to give a talk at one of our monthly meetings on
the Magic Band. Most of our members (including me) are not on 6m and could
benefit from an overview of antennas, equipment, operations, and the like.
Do you know of such a person that I could contact? Is there a Georgia group
of VHFer's that would be a good place to hunt?
Thanks in advance for your help.
