[Fourlanders] FW: [VHFcontesting] contest schedule

Thanks to Kim and Brian for checking this out. I feel a bit better now. As
long as they are not running big power I am not too concerned. Having never
heard of these guys before I had visions of another group line of sight with
1kw+ TX power. That would not be good. If they are on Mitchell that is
even better since they can not camp overnight there.

I am not terribly concerned about this "operation". Do a search on the
web for W3CQH, take a look around and make up your own mind. Take a
look at: http://wc4j.com/w3cqh.html and http://jaylubliner.com/ .

There is NOTHING in EM85wx that tall. See:
http://f6fvy.free.fr/qthLocator/fullScreen.php and plug in EM85wx. Get
an idea of where this is and then look at the terrain in something
like Google Earth or Delorme TopoUSA.

Yes, Roan Mt. is nearby, but it is in EM86 and "only" about 6200'.
See: http://www.n2mh.net/rovesite/em86wc.htm

I am guessing he means Mt. Mitchell. See:
http://www.n2mh.net/rovesite/em85us.htm
The top end (SW) of the parking lot is just about exactly 6600 feet.

Playing with Google Earth, they put the marker for Mitchell County,
NC, about 2-3 miles from the approximate center of EM85wx. The
Mitchell County marker is on the SSW outskirts of Bakersville, NC.
(Turn on "Georgraphic Web in Google Earth to see the purple Mitchell
County marker.")

Later,
Brian
