I'll be there when I can, as usual. Might be more this June than last year.

We have a new ham radio club right here in Haywood County, and several of the members may stop by to say hello and have a look. They may be disappointed to not see Bob's microwave set up, after all the bragging I've done on it.

Bob Lear <w4zst at windstream.net> wrote: Sorry I've been so late getting the word out on the contest plans. Many
things going on like buying a new house and having a bone spur in my
neck that have been taking up much of my time beside that pesky work
thing. Work is now cut back and I'm in PT for my neck but making no
progress on remodeling the house or getting my building started, but
soon. Of course, we had to take some time to go to Dayton last weekend
and had a great time visiting.

Anyway, because of these things and the fact that Ivan K4VJM, Steve K4RF
and Sherman W4ATL won't be with us for this contest, we are going to do
limited multi-op instead of full multi. Ivan has had problems with his
knees and is also undergoing PT to help with his recovery, but he thinks
he won't be able to get things together in time for the contest, so we
will adjust accordingly. He will get back to 100% and be with us for
the September contest and so will K4RF so we definitely plan to do full
multi then.

Thanks to Scott NN4W for offering to take over 2m band captain earlier
when we were still thinking full multi, however, now that I won't be
doing microwave, I'll take 2m back and hope Scott isn't too upset!!!

So the band captains are: Jim W4KXY 6m, Bob W4ZST 2m, Brian NX9O 222
and Ron WW8RR 432. We have plenty of operators signed on and enough
trailer pullers too. Confirming so far: Scott NN4W, Kos N4NIA also
pulling trailers in addition to the band captains. Other ops coming are
Kim WG8S, Jim WE8W, Jeff W0ONR, Bill KI4US, Gary N8CQ and a new op Tom
McElroy KI4WOU (I think I got it right). Haven't heard from Paul W4SKI
or Bob WA4VJC or Dean K2JB. Let us know if you are planning to come.
We hope that some other folks will also come up to visit and or operate
with us including Gary KE8FD, Wayne N4FLM, Randall N4AC and Mac WB4MAK.
Of course, I've probably forgotten someone who had wanted to come or
told me they might come, but remember that if I didn't write it down it
didn't last long in the limited short term memory space. Please do plan
on coming and let me know so I can mention in my next update. We also
expect a visit from Anna N9KHC and the McCarthy kids on Saturday and
maybe Anna will operate some. Kos is bringing his wife to share the
camping experience and to get away from the big city for the weekend.
Gary's son Josh may also come along again to get in some hiking in the
area like he has done before.

We are planning on Jeff bringing the food and cooking again. I will get
a separate memo out about food soon.

The usual station and antenna set-ups are planned for the four bands.
We are fine on equipment and antennas and hardware. We are planning to
use WriteLog 10.66, the latest version and should have all the computers
ready before we get to the mountain. Brian has found some new
interesting things to do with the server(s) to help take care of some of
the past problems we've had with Writelog.

Looking forward to the contest and to seeing everyone on the mountain in
just a few weeks. Another update will be coming soon.

Thanks and 73, Bob W4ZST
