Gentlemen, well the time is near and things are still on track and going
well. Plenty of operators so we shouldn't have any unattended stations
during the contest. Propagation has been good lately too so we should
have a great time on the air.
Those planning to convoy up come to my QTH on Friday morning so that we
can leave here at 9AM as planned. Jim W4KXY will be picking up a
trailer here to tow and Ron WW8RR will be picking up the generator here.
I will also tow a trailer from here. We will meet Mac K4RBM on our
way through Cleveland. He is pulling Great White and it is at his house
already. Scott will pick up Jeff and the food here in Dahlonega with
his trailer and meet us on the way. We will use the Dahlonega repeater
146.835+T100 for liason until we get everyone together and then switch
to 146.55 simplex along the way. Kos is pulling Ron's tower trailer
from home and will meet us up there. Several folks will be convoying
with us (N4AC, K8EAB, KI4US) and others meeting us there also (N4NIA,
N8CQ, W4SKI, WE8W). Others coming later are KI4WOU, K5TJD, WG8S
One change to make to the food situation. Dean K2JB had his weekends
mixed up and went to the mountain last Saturday for the great chili
dinner. Well, he found that we weren't there yet!!! Unfortunately, he
has other plans for this weekend and can't make it. We will miss you
Dean and the chili and cherry cobbler. Put the dates down in stone for
next years contests. Jeff has the meals covered and we are in good
shape for food as always. We really need folks to volunteer to help
Jeff out with setting up and taking down and clean-up after meals as
this is a large group.
We finally heard from Tom KI4WOU and he is coming for Friday night thru
Sunday afternoon. Also heard from Gary N8CQ and he is coming for Friday
afternoon till Sunday afternoon. Kos' daughter had to drop out due to
work commitments, but his son-in-law is coming Saturday as planned and
is interested in Ham Radio as Kos has been working on him.
That's it for food and personnel. No other changes or drop-outs to
report. Looks like a good one coming up.
Weather looks good too. Sounds like just the usual possibility of late
afternoon TS is all we might encounter.
73 and ready to go on Friday morning.....
