Since it looks like I am not going to make it to the mountain in September I
am most certainly going to do this. I talked to Bob tonight and I am going
up to his place on Friday around lunch time to work on the 6 meter antennas,
setup radios, setup antennas, etc. in preparation for the contest. Ron, I
believe that you took the hairpin match off of one of the 6 meter beams to
make another. Bob said that he knows how to make and tune that hairpin
match since he has helped Dick, K5AND do it so we are just going to redo the
hairpin matches on both beams. If anyone wants to join and help I am sure
you would be welcome.

It doesn't matter how beautiful your theory is, it doesn't matter how smart
you are. If it doesn't agree with experiment, it's wrong.

Subject: [Fourlanders] CQ WW VHF contest July 18-19
I'm going to try to get things set up here for the CQ WW VHF contest in
two weeks. If we can get the 6m beams swr problems repaired before
then, we will put those up on the tower for the contest and we'll be
able to test them out. Otherwise, I'll put up my 6M7. I will put up
the usual stacked pair on 2m on a tower trailer. We may operate from
the new shack or from the trailer parked next to the building like we
did for VHF SS in Jan. BTW, the carpet is in the shack and I'm moving
stuff in daily. It is just what I planned. Looks great.
Some of the Fourlanders have indicated that they would like to
participate also. Let me know. They have a multi-op category and I
think we could do OK if there is any propagation. The contest is from
2PM Saturday 7/18 to 5PM Sunday 7/19. I can put some folks up if they
want to stay overnight or there is ample room to camp out too, although
July is pretty hot for camping out!!
Let me know if you are interested in operating the contest.
73, Bob
