Here is a Tropo map for 8am Sunday morning, Yellow is good Orange better, red very nice!:
If you want to work so DX VHF Sunday morning is looking good. Remember, Tropo is like fog, it burns off later in the morning so stop by Early to try it out. 432 was hopping this morning, and with FD and the weekend, 6 and 2 should be rocking,
Note that this is near peak time for E-skip on 6 meters and 2 could even open up in the late afternoon for Es contacts.
We will have yagis for 6 and 2 SSB, so drop by and see what is going on. Right now Ian and I are the only ones set to work the VHF/UHF Station

The
Gwinnett Amateur Radio Society has accepted our challenge on TOTAL POINTS
earned at Field Day. That means we need every person to fill their time
slots and do
a steady stream of contacts for us to win. Remember - the biggest loss
of points is when
the stations set idle. You don't have to be real fast, just real steady!
There are still openings in our schedules - don't say "I'll just do
something when I get there"
You certainly may do that but you might just be surprised that someone
is already there.
Look at the schedule and see where there is only one (or zero) people
per time slot and
send Ian, AK4IK at nfarl. org a note to volunteer to operate that time
slot. If you can pick
up a second time slot, especially as a logger, let Ian know that as
well. Hint: it is not
uncommon to operate for 4 to 6 hours at a FD!!
Here are some obvious openings:
GOTA - Noon to 2PM Sunday - need at least one op
40M Phone - 4AM Sunday to 2PM - need second op/logger
GOTA - almost the entire 24 hours - need second op/logger (GOTA =
licensed less than one year,
unlicensed, or have not operated HF for past 3 years)
True, Field Day is not a contest BUT a little friendly competition with
GARS never hurt anyone, did it?
