Kos,

Yep, lots of fun being had by many people discovering what you can work on 6 meters with these horizontal folded dipole antenna designs.

I think what you are suggesting will help us out quite a bit. With lots of other projects consuming my time right now, I am running short on time in getting the new "higher power" insulators milled out for our current Squalos we used in Sept.

I see where the M2 HO antenna is rated at 800 watts ea (1500 stacked) so we should be good.

After we "melted" the other phasing lines and I was going to have to replace them anyhow, I will keep moving on this project and make a new pair with the good Beldon 8213 coax I just bought at Dayton.

Subject: [Fourlanders] 6M Grid Gap, Pt II

Not having the time to mess with trying to build a squalo for 6M, I picked up an M2 HO Loop and put it up on Saturday. Called CQ with it four times in the course of the afternoon and from Snellville worked five stations from Macon in the south, to mid-Tennessee in the north, Monroe to the east, and Carrollton to the west. Used the FT-847 with 100W into questionable coax. I'm going to play around with it some more and see how it performs, particularly if I can hit an opening and work beyond the neighborhood.

I'm thinking of picking up one more to stack them, as this will probably be my sole 6M antenna until I can get my tower up. Stacked, they're supposed to be able to handle full legal power, so I'm thinking it should be pretty easy for me to take them down and bring them to the mountain if we want to pick up on trying an alternative to the 6M beams to try to fill in some of those close-in grid squares we're hopping over right now.

Is this something you guys would like to try? If so, I'll prioritize getting the second antenna and putting together an appropriate mast that we can use.

Kos, N4NIA
