OK...I will look into that connector. I have some I bought some time ago to interface to my new Kenwood TM-71a data port

It may be the same as the Kenwood mini-DIN

It is for the PGM port that is used to update the flash memory with the latest firmware update. You can buy the cable for $30 from HRO but I found info on the internet on how to make one. The hardest part is finding the 8 pin mini DIN plug. Push comes to shove I will spring for the $30 but that makes me feel like a utility operator. Next thing you know I will be buying premade coax cables with PL259s on the ends.

 Jim,
There are a couple of 8 pin connectors referred to as "mini-DIN".
Some are keyed and some are not.

Which port on the rear of the 2000 is this to plug into ? I can then look up the diagram of the back panel.

If it is the same as the Kenwood mini-DIN that is used for the data port connections, I may have a couple of those I got from MCM Electronics.

I am looking for an 8 pin mini DIN plug to make a cable for the FT2000.
Anyone got one they can part with?
