[Fourlanders] CQWWVHF @ W4ZST update

Wow, what a strange problem with the 6 meter amplifier!  Mine is available if
you can't get Ron's.  Just let me know if I need to bring it with me Saturday
morning.  The HV metering problem on the 2 meter amplifier is a known issue that
has been developing for a while.  I agree that it most likely has something to
do with the resistors in the metering circuit.  If you have a HV probe you can
double check it.  If not, let me know and I will bring my HV probe.  Anyway,
something else to fix!  For Saturday night can someone go into town and pickup
some pizzas?  That would work for me.  Sunday lunch I would be OK with just
sandwiches.  Again someone could go into town.  Weather here in San Diego is
wonderful.  The sun is shining, temps are in the high 70s with a nice breeze
blowing in off the ocean.

Subject: [Fourlanders] CQWWVHF @ W4ZST update

So far I have heard from:  N4NIA, W4KXY, K5AWC, K4VJM coming to contest
and spending the night Saturday night.  We have more room available for
others.  WW8RR hasn't yet committed.  We already have breakfast for
Sunday morning taken care of.  Kos offered to cook and we have Pancakes
and Bacon aplenty waiting for the occasion.

Latest development:  I have tested the 6m amp again and it is still
doing the same thing.  Acting normal but no output.  It is not the
wattmeter as I have used a different meter, slugs and jumpers.  A very
strange problem as we don't know where all that power is going and the
amp is not overheating or shutting down automatically.  It is definitely
producing normal power with 1A of plate current and 60mA of grid current
which only occur when drive is applied.  Idling values are normal.

So, we will need another 6m amp.  Either Ron's or Jim's and I know both
are available.  Whichever one we can get up here, we will use.

A minor problem with the 2m amp.  It is not reading high voltage
properly.  Probably something to do with the HV multipier string.  It is
reading about half the high voltage, but the full amount is really there
as I can easily load it to 800 W out and it wouldn't do that with half
voltage.  It appears to be working fine otherwise so I think we can just
use it and trouble shoot that problem later.

I have had both stations on the air.  Still connecting computers and
such but I can easily finish that.

Any suggestions for meals Saturday night and Sunday lunch to be fixed
here?  I figured that would be all we would need for the contest besides
Sunday breakfast.  We can eat before the contest on Saturday on the way
(or bring something up) and after the contest on Sunday on our own (or
maybe some would like to go to Rooster's on the way home).

Haven't heard from anyone on a time server.  I can use one of my
computers for a Writelog server if necessary, but I don't have my GPS
thing working for time.  We can use the internet as we have done that
before.  Is that good enough for WSJT?

All for now.  Bob
