Well, after an awesome weekend on the mtn, its back to real life.

Some if you and I talked about the PSK31 (or just digital modes) audio
issue I am chasing with HRD, the audio interface box and DM-780.

Well, I have a VERY interesting new data point that is a real head
scratcher thus far.

I have repeated the following several times. with *no* hardware changes:

1. open HRD and connect to FT-847 for CAT.
radio connects and shows correctly.
2. click the DM-780 button in HRD to open DM-780. click the send
button to begin transmitting.
3. the FT847 goes into TX mode with QRP or less output VERY low audio
to radio. I can hear the PSK tones on the nearby rx, but weak, and no
RF indicated on the 847.

4 close HRD
5. DM-780 directly.
6. adjust the PT setings to configure for PTT via RTS rather than via
HRD and transmit. full output.

WTC?

I am searching the forums, but ths far, gogle is not my friend so I
have not found any info thus far.
I am confused. I do not see any audio level settin with HRD, but with
HD on and doing CAT
to the radio, DM-780 does not transmit correctly.

close HRD and DM-780 makes full output (I turned down the leel for
about 20w on the 847 display.) and the sigal is on the local RX and
strong.

any opinions or experience? am I missing a menu item in HRD of DM-780?

thanks in advance!!
