[Fourlanders] Contest Weekend

I thought that we had run at least 6 meters on a second generator but it has
been a long time and my memory may be wrong. I still believe that a second
generator would be a good idea. As you pointed out we could use that for
cooking, outside lighting, etc. and leave all of the precious kws for making
RF.

Curtail power substantially? I seem to recall running the bottom four at
full power from that generator. It is rated at 8.5KW with 10KW peaks and is
two cylinders for much smoother operation. We ran a separate generator for
cooking and misc' usage.

During this past contest on 144-432 we all reduced power substantially as
that generator was being used for both those stations and cooking. The crock
pots were consuming about 1-1.5KW continuous. If that was a true 6KW
generator, that left only 4.5-5KW for radio, and we all saw how poorly that
played with two or three stations transmitting.

The "Big Hos" generator is a good backup plan that would easily allow CQ'ing
at full power on at least the bottom three. We can throttle 222 back or run
intermittent on 222 as the QSO rate is much lower if it does not handle the
bottom four simultaneously.
