Jim;
    I have used some small butane torches or a small propane torch with great success on the solder style center pin connectors even down to LDF4 connectors. Just be sure to have a cold damp cloth handy too cool it down. Dielectric migration/melting isn't as bad as one would think. Eupen made some cable that is similar to what you are describing. I hope you are lucky enough to have some cable that doesn't require a prep tool. At work we use the new style Commscope cable with the aluminum smooth wall. You have to purchase the prep tool to install the connectors properly. I haven't figured out why we use it but it is what it is!

Removed the connector today from that piece of 7/8ths hardline that I mentioned earlier.  It is different than any hardline I have seen before.  The outer shield conductor is spiral instead of corrogated.  The connector actually screws onto it!  Also the center conductor is copper clad aluminum instead of a copper tube which leads to the real topic of this email.  The center pin is soldered on and the largest soldering iron that I have (150/200 Watt Weller Soldering Gun) doesn't have enough heat to melt the solder and remove the center pin.  Does anyone have something that would do the job?  Thanks.
