By the way -- I just received my HPSDR/TAPR "Hermes" board that is
essentially all the individual boards of the HPSDR system on a single 4
x 6 inch card. RX and TX from 50 kHz to 55 MHz, incredible dynamic
range and other receiver characteristics, and 0.5W output with 3rd order
IMD down 50dB: http://openhpsdr.org/wiki/index.php?title=HERMES
It's full duplex over any split with separate RX and TX antenna
connectors available. Talks to the computer via ethernet so it can be
remotely located, and there is a companion 15W PA and antenna tuner in
the works.
I'm thinking that one of these with along with a DEMI 2M transverter
would make a really nice "prime mover" for a VHF/UHF/microwave station.
One interesting idea is that by cleverly choosing IF frequencies for
the transverters, you could have RX monitor windows open for several
bands simultaneously.
The original TAPR production run is sold out, but there's a fellow in
India who is producing the boards as well as his own line of enclosures,
amplifiers, etc. (http://www.apache-labs.com)
