Same thing for W4BFB and W4CQ Charlotte NC Clubs, active big VHF contest
efforts in '70's and '80's.
K8GP Grid Pirates have moved from Spruce Knob WV to a much lower hilltop
closer to home with permanent towers the last couple of years.
The getting older part of it is slowing down the big expeditionary force
mountaintop efforts, unless they're headed to a site that's easy to get to
with permanent towers and antennas. And maybe even permanent operating
position sites. The armada of motorhomes is costly at less than 6 miles per
gallon and $4 per gallon fuel cost.
The really unfortunate part is that the operators didn't get on VHF / UHF
from home once the big club efforts stopped.
