We are planning a workday this Saturday, January 5 starting at 10:30 AM
to get things going for the contest. After we are finished working, we
will probably head to Johnny B's in Dahlonega for food and
refreshments. Now that's real incentive!!
Main thing we will try to do is get as many antennas in the air as we
can while we have good weather. Also, the Saturday before the contest
(12th) is the Gwinnett TechFest which some folks might like to attend so
that might interfere.
mainly it's the weather we are looking at. This coming weekend looks
pretty good so we thought that would be a good time to start.
So far we have myself, Scott, Tom and John Kludt planning to come.
Others are of course welcome and the operating positions will be cleaned
off and ready for any band captains wanting to start setting up their
stations. If we have plenty of folks, there should be time for both
antennas and stations.
Only thing I know of that's not here already are the 2m phasing lines
for the 2m beams. We will need those in order to get 2m in the air.
All trailers are here except for 432 and that will be up to Ron's
schedule and availability.
I don't mind other days for further work closer to the contest, like
Sunday the 6th and/or Sunday the 13th if necessary. Or even Saturday
afternoon the 12th after the TechFest if need be.
Let me know if you are planning to come and help out.
Also, as a first thought on food, we have been offered to again have
Mike and Ed's BBQ from Auburn and smoked sausages delivered from Auburn
by Chris for the Saturday evening meal. OH YEAH!! And Scott has
offered to make his semi-famous Clam Chowder if we have enough fans of
that, so let me know. Any other suggestions will also be considered.
73, Bob
