Hi Jim,
Sorry you were not able to join us yesterday for the antenna work party and GREAT food and drink afterward. We had a nice sunny day and temps were mild. We now have ALL of the antennas up in the air (including FM antennas) so next Sunday's activity at Bob's QTH will focus on setting in the stations and doing final testing. As for next Sunday, I think we are targeting 11:00 AM to begin work. We want to make sure we get things pretty much completed before the Falcon's playoff game at 1:00.
Yesterday during afternoon lunch and beverages, we discussed this contest's new FM only class and a rough idea of how the Four Landers want to participate and encourage others in the area to get on the air that weekend. I think we agreed on a rough idea of what operating schedule for FM we are going to hold to and I volunteered to start writing up an announcement to be posted on various local club reflectors and/or e-mailing lists.
This announcement will basically amount to an explanation of the Jan ARRL VHF contest, the new FM only class addition and rule changes, encouragement for those with only VHF-UHF FM home station and mobile capability to participate and experiment with communications ranges possible without the use of repeaters, and announce the W4NH participation schedule and frequencies for the weekend of the 19th & 20th.
I will begin working on this announcement this week and send it out to our local team of W4NH operators to comment back on and Wordsmith before release.
Jim, the frequencies we tentatively decided on yesterday for the W4NH operation will be 146.58, 222.50, and 446.00. We decided NOT to use 146.55 due to known local groups using that frequency on a somewhat daily basis.

I will come up Sunday also unless Saturday works better for you Bob. What
time do you plan to be there Ron? I will bring a couple of things folks
have asked for and help with any last minute antenna and/or station
installation activities. I may be at the TechFest on Saturday. The SVHFS
is supposed to be there and I would like to see and hear what they are doing
and what the plans are for the conference in April. That would also be a
good opportunity to spread the FM contest word. If I have time this week I
may try to put a sign together. What frequencies, times, etc. should be
listed? I suggest 146.55, 223.5 and 446 are the best choices.
