[Fourlanders] FT-920 finally fixed

Well, I have sighted the enemy and found that it was me!!

All this time spent and good help from my friends, I finally found it
was crossed wiring that "I was so sure of". I also think it means that
the original relay really did go bad. Wish I had tested it. Of course,
in retrospect there are a lot of things I could have and should have
tested that would have led me to the answer much more quickly than I
did. Thanks to all who helped out. I really did learn a few things
about ALC circuitry, but will undoubtedly manage to misapply that
knowledge in the future. Thanks especially to Ron WW8RR and Reed W2CQH
for their technical insight and experience. Thanks to Reed for leading
me to something other than the ALC being the problem, which helped me
find it then. I had reversed inputs and outputs on the TRV switching
circuit board so that the relay was connected correctly for normal use,
but left nothing connected in TRV mode. So simple, but I am able to
easily deceive myself into thinking I knew what I was doing, and then
made a mountain out of a mole hill.

I really miss Fred's input the most. He would have been up front with
me and said something like "You Idiot, you know that whatever is wrong
was something you caused".

So now after spending such an inordinate amount of time on this problem,
I can now get to the next broken radio. I will understand when you
don't answer my e-mails or hang up on my calls for help.

Thanks also to Andrew AK4EU for loaning me his 920 to make comparative
measurements. His radio was actually still working properly when I
returned it!! Also now know what to do to quickly make Ivan K4VJM's 920
work with my transverter mod too.

Thanks again, Bob
