After a fifteen year hiatus, I'm happy to be able to say that Bruce
KQ4TV & I will team up for a roving adventure again this weekend
during the September ARRL VHF+ contest. While Buttercup is long since
moved on, we're taking to the air in a new & exciting way...from the
waters of the Tennessee River at the south end of Kentucky Lake. Why
there? Because EM55, 56, EM65 & 66 intersect in the water while
offering promising operating areas in all four grids out off the main
channel. My wife, Danielle, will be the driver.
We intend to operate on 6m, 2m & 70cm. The 70cm station is hampered
by the lack of power, so we'll be QRP on that band. The antennas are
all omni-directional loops with stacked pairs on 2m & 70cm. We'll be
operating only on Saturday afternoon; no Sunday operations. If the
bands are dead, we'll focus on the water, the grill & the ice chest. ;-)
Please listen for K4IDC/river rover.

us into trouble." - Dr. Norman Geisler
