Ron and I had workday Saturday and took down the 432 antennas and the 2m omni's. Ron also took his 432 station home. Checked Ron's frequency counter here against the GPS receiver 10 MHz output and my counter and sig gen. We also discussed lots of important things over Wings and Beer afterward. A productive day.
A piece of fresh news for the group. Johnny Kludt K4SQC, despite having spent several contests with us, has decided that he can stand the group well enough that he is volunteering to be 6m band captain now. Johnny has also purchased Jim's FT-2000 to continue the excellent 6m station that we've used and enjoyed so many times. He will use my 6m Commander until I can get the 6m solid state amps on the air for the club, which will then be used for the contests. The contest station is still set up here and I will get Johnny more familiar with it this spring when he has time to come up. Thanks to Johnny for picking up this crucial band captain opening. And thanks to Scott NN4W for the past year or so he had been doing a fine job as 6m band captain. Scott's not leaving us, just giving up band captain duties. Jim and I were co-captains for the January contest and Johnny was going to be a major player then too, but when Brian was unable to make it, Johnny took over 222 again and has three contest under his belt now as acting 222 band captain.
Don't forget the SVHFS conference coming up April 25, 26 in Norcross. Check out all the happenings at www.svhfs.org
And of course, the June contest will be June 14, 15 and we are planning to head up to the mountain again for that one, barring unforseen circumstances.
73 for now, Bob
