Well it has all come together and barring any unforeseen circumstances
we are on GO for the contest.
Here is the line-up:
Trailer pullers. Johnny K4SQC will pull Great White with his '250 size
truck with brake controller. He has pulled it before.
Kos N4NIA has come forward and will pull Roger Miller with the 222
antenna mast. Kos has a '150 size truck with brake controller and pulls
a pretty large RV trailer he has so this is great news.
Bill KI4US will pull the BlackHawk 2m tower trailer as usual.
Bob W4ZST will pull the Radio Flyer 6m tower trailer and the golf cart.
Ron WW8RR will pull the Generator trailer.
Jim W4KXY will pull Ron's 432 tower trailer after swapping off here
before we leave for the contest on Friday morning.
That takes care of the six trailers for the contest and all the needed
antenna towers.
Other operators are Jack K5FSE and he and Charlotte will pull their
camper for the contest.
Jim WE8W will pull a camper trailer from Greensboro NC for he and Ron to
sleep in.
We also expect Kim WG8S to come from Huntsville and Paul W4SKI to join
us from Maggie Valley as operators for the contest. This gives us 10
operators so I think we will be OK. There is a good possibility that
some other folks may come visit also and help operate.
I will do the cooking and will decide on the menu later.
We will need to have at least one workday here at my QTH to take down
the 6m, 2m and 222 antennas and prepare the trailers for the contest
trip. Let me know if and when you are available after this weekend
which is the Huntsville hamfest.
Bill has the contest internet connection planned and we should be good
to go with that. Ron is prepping all the contest computers. Jack will
bring his W6PQL 2m amp and power supply for the 2m station and I will
supply my Commander 6m amp for Johnny's 6m station. We will be using
his FT-2000 again for 6m and Johnny is 6m band captain. Kos is 2m, I
will be 222 along with help from Bill and Ron is 432 captain. Once
again, with the smaller contingent and my having to cook, we will not
have any microwave equipment.
That should bring us up to date for now. As usual we will plan to leave
my QTH on Friday Sept 11 by 9 AM or so with the convoy, stopping to eat
in Maggie Valley as usual and getting to the campground to start setting
up by about 2:30. We usually are packed and loaded and ready to leave
the campground by about 11AM on Monday for the trip home. Anyone
needing directions please contact me.
Updates as needed and info is available, such as workday planning.
73, Bob
