Untitled DocumentAnyone up for taking turns manning a table at TechFest ? I'll bring the SVHFS banner and display if I have some help. Some of the Fourlander's contest photos and stories are always good attention getters.
Might also be a good opportunity to get some of the GARS members thinking about getting on to work W4NH in January contest. I assume you'll be on from Bob's?
73,
Charles

TECHFEST
Saturday, January 9th, 2016
9:00am - 2:00pm
Gwinnett Medical Resource Center
665 Duluth Highway (GA-120)
Lawrenceville, GA 30046 Directions
TechFest is FREE. No entry fee, no lunch charge, no club display fee no forum fee. So come to Lawrenceville and meet with a few hundred of your closest ham friends.
The Gwinnett Amateur Radio Society (GARS) will be hosting our annual TechFest January 9th.
We have invited regional radio groups to participate by setting up a table with information about their activities and to demonstrate some type of amateur radio mode, method, technology or experience. This will be an opportunity for the community to become aware of the many modes of operation of Radio Amateurs and view some of the preparations taking place by public service volunteers in the Ham radio community. Unlike Field day, or the typical swap meet, this is not a contest or race. It is a chance to experience modes of our hobby that you might have never seen. Or to show your friends and family what Amateur Radio is about.
Bring a crock pot full of chili to enter the contest. Bring your award-winning chili in the morning and give it to the food staff. A panel of three judges picks the winner at 11:00am. The winning cook's picture will be in the February Garzette and the winner gets bragging rights for a year!
Past Chili Cookoff Winners: 2015 - Mike Smith, KK4KHS 2014 - David Adcock, KA4KKF 2013 - Vaden McDonald, NN4K
2012 - Kyle Albritton, W4KDA 2011 - Sandy Jackson, KJ4DRO 2010 - Randy Collins, N4COR
Techfest does hold a raffle and accept donations to help support the event. You are not obligated to participate.
There will be some door prizes, you must be present to win. The raffle is for an ICOM 7100 all band radio. You DO NOT have to be present to win the raffle.
There will be a License Exam Session during TechFest. The testing begins at 9:15 and the Exam Fee is $14.00. What to bring to a test session
We want to thank all the exhibitors and guests for great participation in TechFest over the past 17 years.
