Thanks a ton for enlightening me about the talk from Ward Silver.

I agree with your message, and add my own - At one time, Spark operators
were put off by the CW rebel-rousers, who then complained about the
bandwidth of AM guys, who didn't want to buy new radios for SSB, etc.

You couldn't stuff a ham born in 1953 into technology from 1923, and you
can't expect a kid born in 2003 to operate as if it's 1963.  They'll run
away. The bands will grow increasingly quiet,and the FCC will auction them
off.

If you think it's be worthwhile, I could bring up to four licensed hams,
all under 14 to the contest on Saturday night to operate a little.  All are
polite, all defer to adult judgement, and they have a fun spirit!  They
might make a few Q's too.
