[Fourlanders] WSJT-X 2.2.2 GA Release

Well, you can pretty much use any radio transmission method known to hams to make FD contacts between 2 stations (except using repeater systems), as long as you are able to exchange your call sign, entry class, and ARRL section.

Conventional CW and SSB Meteor Scatter methods COULD be used as long as you exchange Call signs, Entry class, and Section….OH, but how laborious THAT could be, given the timing. Yes MSK441 would be better but it is designed specifically for VERY short messaging.

My guess is you got that "not valid FD mode" message via WSJTX simply because Joe has not updated the MSK441 messaging format to handle FD exchanges, not that ARRL does not allow Meteor scatter as a valid method to pass signals between 2 stations..

Got a late start because of some things that the wife said had to be done this afternoon and then the big storm. Got on FT8 after dinner. Conditions were OK with 6 open to the west. Best DX was CN88. After things got slow on FT8 I decided to work some MS and tried to switch to MSK441. WSJTX gave me a message that MSK441 isn’t a valid mode for Field Day, etc. Why is MSK441 not a valid mode for Field Day? Then N1MM crashed (related?) so I decided to call it a night. Anyone else seen this?

Good info everyone. I will try this during FD this weekend. I will be on 6 on and off during the weekend. Hope for some more great conditions like we had during the VHF test two weeks again.
