From w4zst at windstream.net Wed Jan 1 15:40:34 2025 From: w4zst at windstream.net (w4zst at windstream.net) Date: Wed, 1 Jan 2025 15:40:34 -0500 (EST) Subject: [Fourlanders] January VHF contest Message-ID: <737285884.97823877.1735764034300.JavaMail.zimbra@windstream.net> Even after my ill-fated attempt at humor about cancelling because Jerry couldn't be with us, we are doing the contest. Most knew I was joking. Jan 18 and 19 at the W4ZST shack. We will be on all bands 6m up to 2304 as usual using the Fourlanders club call W4NH. I have been testing and making sure everything is working OK here. I've had all the stations on recently for various nets and activities. The only problem I had high on my priority list was the 2m terrestrial antenna rotator which had not been working for a good while. Finally got around to troubleshooting it and it just took wiggling the connectors coming out of the control box to get it going again. Glad of that. I do still have to work on changes to the microwave station 902, 1296 and 2304 but still have over two weeks and actually working on that today. I'm pretty sure I have found the problem that had occurred before that should no longer be one. We have the following folks signed up to operate and stay over for the contest here: Brian NX9O, Bill KI4US and Sherman W4ATL who will come Friday and leave Monday, Kim WG8S who will come Friday and leave Sunday afternoon. Ron WW8RR will come Saturday evening and do the overnight MS shift on 6m and hopefully someone else will join him in the wee hours. Sherman and his wife Mary will bring their camper and stay there. Maybve we can get Mary on 6m SSB to rack up a lot of contacts! Robert KQ4CLM, local with the Cleveland club is also bringing his camper and will likely stay the full time. He has visited before but the contest will be trial by fire for him as a newer ham amongst the nut house crew. Since Jerry isn't available we likely will rely on take out but I may make a crockpot of chili or beef stew for Saturday night and surely breakfast Sunday morning. Bring your snacks and drinks as usual. We will meet as usual for lunch on Saturday at 11:30 at Roosters to carry on that tradition. Some may bring their supper meal from there takeout too. Visitors always welcome to join us for lunch and come to visit us for the contest. Just no big Saturday night dinner this time. Let me know if you want to come visit Saturday or Sunday. 73 and see you then, Bob W4ZST -------------- next part -------------- An HTML attachment was scrubbed... URL:
