Bob and Ron,

Pretty much done with this effort.  I have worked with WL 11.14/Win7 and WL 11.11/XP.  Under Win 7 you can route through a single sound card.  I have two in my machine and have successfully used either one but not both ......way too much latency.  The one thing I have found is that while I can record .wav files and then use them, the time I am actually recording the message (shift+F2) the audio does not go to the xmtr.  May be I am not holding my tongue correctly!   But once recorded if I use F2 it works as expected.  Since we are not going to be officially using Win7 this is more of a "for future reference"

XP with all current updates works just as it always has if on an internal sound card.  Again I can route to either internal card without problem.  On my particular machine there is some fan noise in the background but otherwise the audio is clean.  Ron's issue seems to arise only with external sound cards.  I have had a similar issue with AGWPE (a packet engine).  Learning from that experience, if we have not tried it, we might want to try making the external sound card the default device.  That is the only thing that seems to work with AGWPE.

I guess for now we have a solution - running an older version of XP without updates on  Fourlanders contest machines with WL 11.11 (or is it WL 10.6?).   Will we require an external voice keyer on all machines in that configuration or will running on the internal sound card be an option?

On to the EME stuff - getting very close to final assembly.
