I am not real concerned about a lack of skeds, as I think the ability to spot will allow for more ad-hoc contacts and might prove an overall better way to work WSJT, whether EME, terrestrial, or MS. The new rules should allow us to settle on frequencies and I think we'll eventually get a model based on callers and pouncers like we have on voice/CW or digital on HF.

My problem with skeds is that as activity drops off at night, the time spent hanging out an additional 3 or 4 hours just for the possibility to make a contact in the wee hours of the morning could be better spent sleeping and getting back on the bands the following morning. If there were contiguous skeds to carry us through the night it would be welcome, but it seems everyone that asks for a sked with us seems to want to schedule them at 3:30 or 4 in the morning, and there is nothing leading up to them.

Thinking along the same lines as you Johnny, I’m not so sure that putting effort into pre-scheduling will be worth the effort as much as coming up with a plan on how we intend to continually notify the contesting world of our individual station statuses during the contest, along with watching the various chat rooms for schedule requests to us..

This is something we did not get a chance to discuss during Hamvention…… but this week at the Atlanta Hamfest (or at Rocco’s afterward) we should attempt to lay at least a preliminary plan to determine chat rooms, logger websites, equipment, and manpower needed to support this activity by itself.

Subject: [Fourlanders] Skeds for Next Weeks Contest

Folks,

So far we have one sked, well 2 counting looking for Jim.  I have not actively sought them out given the new rules on computer assistance.  It is kind of an experiment, I guess.  If you all would like me to be more aggressive in seeking out skeds, please advise.
