Richard and Deanna,
I've seen other information that indicates John Jefferson Hooper was the
brother of James Monroe Hooper, rather than his father. According to my
information, Isabella Straw (or Isabella Shaw, depending on your source)
and Richard Hooper were parents of both John Jefferson and James Monroe
Hooper. Information I have shows that the James Monroe Hooper who
married Susan Buckner and Louise Reeves was born in 1818, the same year
another brother who was also named James Monroe died. My information
also shows that John Jefferson was born August 26, 1812, making him just
6 years older than his brother, James Monroe. According to my records,
John Jefferson and Attazarah did have a son named James Monroe Hooper;
however, he was born in 1847 and would have been a cousin to the James
Monroe Hooper who married Susan Buckner/Louisa Reeves. HOWEVER... I
have not seen proof of any of this information. Have you? It all came
from other internet sources, and from the Hooper Genealogy - A Southern
Branch book. What do you think?
