[HOOPER] Karen's Introduction

Have been under the weather for the past few weeks. The "weather" is more
favorable this morning, so I want to tell you about my relationship to the
Hooper clan.

My 3rd great maternal grandparents were Dr. Enos C. Hooper and Margaret
Harbison. Their son Thomas Jefferson Hooper and his wife Catherine "Cath"
Caroline Colvard were my 2nd great grandparents. Their daughter Elennor
"Ella" Mae Hooper married Andrew Homer Martin, my great grandparents.

Oliver William Martin and his wife Vesta Mae Hamilton were my maternal
grandparents; and their daughter Cordie Mae Martin Trull is my mother. My
father's name was Clyde Trull.

Until two weeks ago, I could find nothing about Margaret Harbison Hooper
other than her name, DOB, and approximate DOD. I posted a message on the
Harbison board in response to another query and have since been with a
wonderful eighty-year-old lady (Marian) who has been researching the
Harbison's for twent-some years. She said that Margaret's parents were a
William Harbison and Nancy ??.

William Harbison was born ca. 1756 in either TN or VA. No DOD. He and
Nancy married sometime before 1804. Their children were as follows:

1. Margaret Harbison, b. 18 Sep 1804 in TN; d. ca. 1882 in Graham Co, NC
2. George William Harbison, b. 15 Jul 1809
3. Nancy Harbison, b. 07 Jan 1812
4. Valentine Harbison, b. 20 Jun 1814
5. Sally Harbison, b. 1816
6. Andrew Jackson Harbison, b. 1819
7. Robert C. Harbison, b. 1821
8. Moses Lemmons, b. 1825
9. Mary Polly, b. 1829

What caught my eye was Moses's middle name, Lemmons. In all the old census
for Cocke Co., TN and neighboring counties, the surname Lemmons seems to
have been pretty well represented. This causes me to wonder whether Nancy,
the mother, was related to them somehow. Haven't found anything yet to
substantiate this.

The great puzzle for me is that there is still no documented proof as to the
identity of the parents of Enos C. Hooper. Top Hooper researchers have said
that Absalom Hooper and Sarah Salers were definitely NOT his parents, that
evidence is leaning towards Clemmons Hooper and wife Barbara Loudon. I hope
the proof can be found.

Until later,

Karen Trull Jordan
