Hello Bert,
I haven't heard of this Samuel Hupper and the DNA project can't help you
unless you know of a direct male line descendant of Samuel. You could
possibly post a family tree containing what you know to the "Family Trees"
section on the Hooper family webpage. The webpage is at
http://freepages.genealogy.rootsweb.com/~hooperconnections/ If you want to
post a family tree contact the webmaster Clay Hooper at
clayhooper@directvinternet.com
Take care.

Subject: [Hooper] Final Email Address Change and other issues
Message-ID: <3E1FE8D5.7080202@sbcglobal.net>
Hello All ~
Well, many of you may have know that I've been having computer troubles
for the past month or so. Some of which doesn't surprise me now that
I've got a website up online, but some has been just unnecessary and
I've got a couple bald spots now on either side of my head where I've
been pulling out my hair!
1) Directvinternet.com has been going out of business and thereby
forcing a change from my recent email address of
. That account is now void.
2) Then there has been some virus' and worms going on through the
Hooper Mailing Lists which have effected many people causing major
computer troubles and days and days of repair work for many. The Klez
worm, which usually has an ".scr" attachment has been the most damaging
and apparently picks up folks address books and continues to mail out
the worm even after you've got your own computer cleaned. What is
protecting me now is the 2003 Norton Antivirus software that sells for
about $60. Since getting that and cleaning my computer I've not been
infected with any more virus' or worms. An additional problem is the
virus' / worms send out email messages that "appear" to be from someone
you know, like me, when they are in reality not from the sender whose
address is attached to the note. Point is, look for any attachments
with .scr on them and delete them immediately, run your antivirus
software regularly and keep it updated. You will not ever receive an
attachment from me without my telling you what is there to look for,
which is usually only a picture. If you get a message from my supposed
address and there is an attachment without a message from me along with
it, then just delete it right away.
3) My Power supply burnt out one a week or so ago. I was praying the
processor didn't melt too which can happen in 2 seconds or less, but
luckily for me, went to CompuUSA and bought a new power supply,
installed it and $100 later everything on the computer was still there
and working fine.
4) Due to the problems with #1 above, I've had to search for and secure
a new DSL service provider. I've gone with SBC. It's now taken a week
to get all the equipment and software sent to me, installed and
configured to where everything is working as should be. Just seconds
ago was finally able to get the email portion working again. So, please
take the time to look over your address book and make the latest and
hopefully final change in my email address. My current email address
now is:
You can delete any email address you have for me beside the one just
above, those might include any or all of the following:
A.
B.
C.
D.
E.
F.
or any other you may have that I've forgotten.
If you wish to send me a short text only email message to my cellular
phone, you may also use: This address is
used only for an urgent or emergency message.
I apologize for any inconvenience this may have caused you. Hopefully
this is the last major change for some long time to come.
If you've not seen the website that I'm hosting along with friends and
cousins, Wade Glascock and Hal Hooper, we'd love for you to visit and
send any ideas, suggestions, family pictues, family histories, or any
other genealogical or research information. Don't forget to look over
our history making DNA Projects! Also, if you are a Hooper male with a
direct Hooper male line of descent, we'd love for you to participate in
the DNA project. If you're not a Hooper male meeting those
qualifications, but know of one, we'd appreciate your directing them to
the website and encouraging their participation. The URL for the
website is:

Subject: [Hooper] James Hooper geneology question
Message-ID:
Hello,
I am working on family geneology. My GGG Grandfather was Enoch Williams, who
married Mary Hooper, as I believe you know. I have almost no information on
Mary's parents, except for a very old, probably 1862, handwritten biography
of one of Enoch and Mary's sons, William Fitzer Williams. This biography
lists Mary's father as follows:
"...Edward Hooper, of the City of Worcester, England a Captain in the
British Navy a prisoner of war in France about 1800..."
If I understand the text below, you appear to have Mary's father as James
Hooper. See Below:

Can you shed any light for me on James, are you confident that this was Mary
Hooper's father's name? Any information would be greatly appreciated. I
would be happy to email to you the document I refer to so you can study it
yourself.
Thanks so much for any help or comments you can provide,

Message-ID: <3E2EEB94.7020707@sbcglobal.net>
Sorry to bother you all with this - trust me, it's a bother for me too.
However, in trying to upgrade some computer stuff, I've lost ALL the
emails that came within the past month - that I was waiting to reply to
because they were sitting in my InBox and that box was wiped out. So,
if you're waiting on me to reply and I hadn't already, you may want to
resend your message. I don't have a habit of not replying, although
sometimes, it does take me a little while. Some of those email gone now
were one's I was waiting on to reply to when I had some actual time to
write a good response to.
If you sent pictures, family trees or other information to be posted on
the Hooper Connections website and they're not there (please check the
website first), then please resend. The stuff I got yesterday I still
have, but before that, it's probably gone. No need to resend anything
that is actually posted already on the website because that stuff is all
okay, I'm just talking about anything new within the last month that
I've not replied to or not yet posted.
Thanks ~ Clay

All Listed,
The software for this list was updated and there has been some problems in
the transition. The administrators are working to get things running smoothly
again so if you have experienced some problems with the list, it is probably
resulting from the changeover and will be fixed soon.
BTW... there are some new DNA results posted on the Hooper Connection web

Calling All Hooper Researchers,
If your at a dead end on your research and would like to help out with the
DNA testing, now you have a chance by making a donation. There has been a
committee set up to make decisions for spending and to search for Hoopers
that may provide a link to new Hooper information. Example: We are currently
searching for a descendant of William Hooper (The Signer) to see who is
actually related to him. Another search is for DNA matching Hoopers from
different countries that may know their lineage back past the 1700s. This
find could help determine the country of origin for several Hooper families
found in the US but not able to trace their tree out of the US.
