Jim,

The DNA used is genealogy testing comes from the Y chromosome. Only men have 
this chromosome and they pass the Y chromosome DNA on to their sons. Your Y 
chromosome DNA comes from your Ryan ancestors. A man's Y-DNA will always come 
strictly from his paternal ancestral line.
