The book "History of Franklin County, GA," published by the Franklin 
County Historical Society in 1986. In this book on page 89: 1805 Land 
Lottery lists of those registered to draw land in the 1805 Lottery has 
added significance because of the loss of the 1790, 1800 and 1810 
Census records for Georgia. Shown is this list on page 95 is Obediah 
Hooper as receiving 2 Land Grants. Also listed as receiving Land Grants 
are James, John, Richard & William Hooper.
  On page 126: In the list of the first grand jurors called to serve on 
the Grand Jury at the completion of the new courthouse in 1806 was: 
Obadiah Hooper. If you have never looked in the DAR book and seen these 
names listed it is a thrill. Hooper, Obadiah, Hooper, Obadiah, Jr., 
Hooper, James and Hooper, Richard Brooks.  Apparently, no descendants 
of Thomas, William or John have applied for membership in the DAR.
