[Hooper] Descendants of Richard Hooper

[Deanna Baumgardner]

A group of descendants of Richard Hooper b. March 29, 1783 in VA 
migrated to Shelby County Texas February 1836 and died there June 18, 
1855 have banded together to study and honor his life.  He served as a 
Captain of a Company of Calvary from July to October 1836,  served as a 
Representative from Shelby County to the first Congress of Texas and 
several years as a Surveyor for Shelby County.  He is buried in the 
Hooper-May Cemetery in Shelby County and we are forming a Cemetery 
Preservation Cemetery Association to honor him and his descendants.  If 
you descended from Richard and Isabella Straw Hooper or any of their
