[Hooper] Can anyone identify this Hooper?

I found only one HOOPER on the Mexican War Volunteer Roster as follows:

J.A. HOOPER, Private,  age 27
John S. Sutton's Company, composed of personel recuited primarily at  
Petersburg and Springfield Texas. Mustered into federal service on  
October 20, 1847. Mustered out of federal service on October 6, 1848.
