There must be some descendants of James Hooper out there who would  
like to honor this Patriot ancestor?

Hello K;
I located 7 James Hoopers in the Patriot Index. None of them were in  
the service of South Carolina. Most were born before 1750 and one had  
a wife named Elizabeth Chambers. If this one is yours, here is the  
following information on him.

James Hooper was born place unknown, on 25 Oct 1746. His rank was Pvt  
in VA and he died in Georgia on 28 Apr 1836. It says that both  
Patriot and Widow were pensioned and the name of his spouse was  
Elizabeth Chambers.

If this is not your James Hooper, I am sorry. It simply means no one  
to date has joined DAR using his Revolutionary War service for  
membership verification.

If this is your patriot, you can request a copy from Registrar  
General NSDAR, Record Copy Dept. 1776 D Street NW, Washington, DC  
20006-5303. Please send a check for $5.00 payable to Treasurer  
General NSDAR. Mail the check and the information as listed on your  
Patriot ancestor and allow 6-8 weeks to receive the record copy as  
they get many requests. If you are interesting in joining DAR, please
