[Hooper] Searching for our Monroe connection

Some Ancient Landowners in Saint Martin's Parish, Hanover, Virginia by  
Norine Campbell Gregory, New Papyrus Press, Inc. 2001:
"Susanna Monroe, sister of Andrew Monroe who was the grandfather of  
President James Monroe, is said to have married a Mr. Tyler. The first  
wife of John Tyler, 10th. President of the United States, was Letitia  
Christian, born 1790 at "Cedar Grove," New Kent, where the home still  
stands.

"There was a Christian Tyler Monroe.  Benjamin and Joseph Tyler were  
the two sons of Charles Tyler, dec. of West Moreland Co. The Will of  
Joseph, made 23 Dec 1731, named brothers Benjamin and William, sister  
Christian Monroe
cousins Eleanor, Sarah, Spence, and Andrew Monroe."

Page 351 of Flora Hooper Collier's book, Hooper Genealogy, A Southern  
Branch, Vol II,  pg. 351 "In Rhodes Memorial,Atlanta, GA, we found in  
the "Loose Manuscript Hooper File", a letter from Felix W. Motlow of  
Tullahoma, Tenn. dated 28 Dec 1942 to- Director of Rhodes Memorial  
Archives, Atlanta. Enclosed was a picture of an old colonial clock. He  
stated it was known as the "Monroe Clock" passed down through Nancy's  
family. He also said that Nancy was a cousin of President james Monroe.
