At the request and courtesy of Cynthia Murray, Genealogy Research Associates, Inc., Accredited Genealogist, Salt Lake City, UT completed research on LDS records on Obadiah Hooper (born abt 1720-1727). The goal was to know how many descendants believe Richard Hooper was his father and what relevant information could be provided. Also, how many descendants believe another ancestor could be his father and would like to explore that possibility? Should you want to purchase a copy of this report you can contact them at Tamiwgra at sol.com.

Cynthia has given permission to share their conclusion on Page 72. 5.
Speculation on the Family of James Hooper of Hanover County, VA.
The oldest son of Obediah Hooper of Lunenburg County was James Hooper, born ca 1744. The assumption of several Hooper researchers in that Obediah Hooper was born in Hanover County ca 1720. For example, Welch, A Family History (1966) (avail LVA), p. 89-90. There is at least some logic to the assumption Obediah was a son of James Hooper of Hanover Co., that William Hooper of Albemarle Co. and Thomas Hooper of Hanover County were also sons of James Hooper. The relationship of John Hooper of Hanover is less clear, but he may have been a brother of James Hooper".

You will recall that I sent information on James Hooper and his land transactions in St. Paul's, Hanover County that concluded with the Sermon for his Funeral by Rev. Samuel Davies August 21, 1756 (available on Google Books).
